Initial Jobless Claims
What it is: The unemployment rate is the share of the labor force that is without work and actively seeking a job. Rising unemployment usually means spare capacity; falling unemployment means a tighter market.
Why it matters: Softening unemployment can accelerate easing expectations; very low unemployment with rising wages can keep policy restrictive. FX and rates often react when the print diverges from consensus.
