Runway hits $200M ARR, doubling revenue in five months

The AI video company's enterprise bet is paying off faster than almost anyone expected.

Generative AI video company Runway has crossed $200 million in annual recurring revenue, reaching that milestone after doubling its revenue in roughly five months. The company added $40 million in net new ARR in Q2 2026 alone. For context, the company was sitting at an estimated $84 million ARR at the end of 2024.

Enterprise is doing the heavy lifting

Runway’s acceleration is almost entirely enterprise-driven, with major companies embedding its tools into professional production pipelines across media, advertising, and gaming. A Fortune 20 company using Runway’s platform recorded 17x usage growth. Net Revenue Retention above 300% tells the same story in aggregate. NRR measures how much existing customers expand their spending over time, and anything above 120% is generally considered strong. Above 300% means Runway’s existing customers are, on average, tripling what they spend.

Partnerships with Amazon, Microsoft, and Adobe have helped establish Runway as a credible enterprise vendor. The company’s flagship products, including its Gen-4.5 series models and GWM Worlds, have given enterprise buyers tangible tools rather than vague promises.

The funding backdrop

Runway raised $315 million in a Series E round in February 2026, pushing its valuation to approximately $5.3 billion and bringing total funding to somewhere between $855 million and $860 million. Founded in 2018 by Cristóbal Valenzuela, Anastasis Germanidis, and Alejandro Matamala, the New York-based company started by deploying open-source machine learning models and gradually pivoted toward proprietary, enterprise-grade solutions.

Year-over-year sales growth was estimated at over 236% for 2024, according to Sacra’s analysis. Revenue projections pointed toward roughly $300 million annualized by late 2025. Runway opened offices in Tokyo and London in June 2026 and added Paris in July 2026. New product introductions include the Runway Dev platform and GWM Worlds 2, both released in September 2026.
