Malaysian hardware wallet reseller CryptoBilis suspected target of supply chain attack, previously acquired by Chinese national
TechFlow reports on October 10 that, according to Bitcoin News (@BitcoinNewsCom), Malaysian authorized Ledger hardware wallet reseller CryptoBilis completed an equity transfer in March this year. The new shareholder is a Chinese national named Jiaming with a registered address in Heilongjiang Province, China, who officially acquired 100% of the company's shares on August 3. A former co-founder confirmed that following the handover, the original shareholders withdrew from all operational, managerial, and administrative roles and currently have no access to any information regarding the company's operations.
Meanwhile, an investigation suggests that the Ledger hardware wallets sold by CryptoBilis may have been targeted by a supply chain attack, with devices allegedly embedded with hidden modules capable of stealing users' mnemonic phrases. To date, there is no direct evidence linking the aforementioned ownership change to the wallet security incident, and the investigation remains ongoing.
